Asset categories

Asset categories are created in the ‘Content’ section.

As shown in the visual below, the categories appear in the Content > Brand Toolbox > Asset library folder (node).

Asset Category Node Hierarchy

There are two asset category types (or levels) in the Asset library and they are usually tiered in this structure or hierarchy:

You can include as many Categories in the “Asset library” folder, and as many Subcategories within each Category, as you wish. However note that you are NOT required to have Subcategories within Categories — Categories can stand alone.

To publish the Subcategory, click the Save and publish button.

Assigning categories to assets

Now that you’ve completed your category structure, you can assign them to an asset.

To assign categories to an asset:

  1. Go to the ‘Media > Asset library’ section.
  2. Locate your individual “Asset” node.

Assigning categories and subcategories to assets
  3. Select the “Properties” tab from the RH editing pane and scroll down to the “Categories” element.
  4. Selecting categories^ from the left column of the multi-node picker updates the categories in the right column. You can assign multiple categories to an image.
  5. To remove categories, click the ‘X’ remove button in the right column.

^Both categories and subcategories can be selected, however, if categories contain subcategories, please select the subcategory only (it is not necessary to select both). Therefore, only select the top-level category when there are no contained subcategories.

To batch update categories across multiple assets, view Batch modifying assets.
