Status: Released
Release date: 11 November 2024

New Features

The BT v4.0.38 release features a complete rebuild of the Photo library member permissions mechanism.

Story 1109 – Photo library member permissions

Prior to the release, the Image library used two different permissions mechanisms to permit and restrict access to images:

  1. Image access restrictions (specific to the image category)
This setting determines whether members are able to see the image in the library.
  2. Image size and watermark restrictions (specific to the member group)
This setting determines which image size members are able to download.

However, the Asset library uses a different permissions system, allowing member group restrictions to be applied directly to individual assets themselves.

The new feature rebuild now aligns the Photo library with the Asset library, creating consistency in the way permissions (and restrictions) are applied.

In addition, the release introduces “inheritance” to member permissions. Permissions (or restrictions) set at the root node will now filter through to all underlying folders and images. Similarly, settings applied to the folder are inherited by the enclosed images unless overridden on the individual image.

This project included the following key tasks:

Task 994 – Disk usage/limit indicator

The Disk Space Usage indicator allows Administrators to view the currently used and available disk space on the customer contract. It is visible in the backoffice on the “Welcome” tab of the root “Content” node.

User Story 1112 – Disallow single file ZIP in libraries

Both the Asset & Photo libraries ZIP up the asset or image before downloading. This occurs regardless of whether one asset or multiple assets are being downloaded.

This compression operation places an unnecessary load on the CPU as well as the extra time needed to ZIP the file. We have revised the downloader so that it DOES NOT ZIP the file if only one file is being downloaded.

Issues & Tasks

Task 1126 – Add usage restrictions text to the Photo & Asset request forms

The yellow highlighted “Usage restrictions” text that appears on photo library images (and assets) is now also displayed on the Photo/Asset request forms.

Additionally, when users receive the email notification of a “soon to be expired” image or asset, the reminder now displays the date the assets will actually expire, as well as show “how many days remaining” to expiry.

The new text reads:

“Please note that the following assets and images, that you previously downloaded from [%SiteName%], are set to expire within [%DaysToExpiryDate%] days on [%AssetExpiryDate%].”

Bug 1118 – ‘Print to PDF’ permissions error

Add additional restrictions to the “Save this Section to PDF” tool so that it only appears for member groups assigned to the Print Section node. All other members will not have access to the tool.
